Self Retreat 2021

Sup Muses!?

I hope to keep this post short.

Self care doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, it doesn’t need to be at all. To me, self care is taking care of yourself in healthy ways so that you are evolving…It can be therapy and doing the HARD, but necessary homework after your session. It can be getting a mani/pedi or meal prepping for the week while listening to your favorite jams. It can be turning your phone off and watching television all day or reading for hours on end without interruptions with many naps, of course. It’s saying no and setting boundaries. It’s sorting through trauma and changes. It’s patience and joy.

Self care is about taking care of you and being unapologetic in this ever-present pursuit.

This year for my self retreat, I went to Lancaster. Let me preface this post: Deciding to spend 2 nights away in Lancaster in the name of self-care is privilege . I totally acknowledge it and at the same time, I feel very blessed to have the means to do this. In 2019 when I started the self retreats, I stayed at my apartment while my fiancé went out of state for a day. I wrote about it here. This was level 2 of that experience.

Let’s get into it:

My 3 goals for this trip were to:

  • relax.

  • business plan.

    • Where’s museologie going? Why and how?

  • journal and work on self.

I accomplished all three and set myself up to continue doing the work for the next few months. If you’re thinking about creating a self retreat for yourself, the biggest thing to consider is cultivating an experience that fits your goals and making sure you take time to care for your entire self. So don’t go if you’re having a bad time with a partner or at work…thinking about that specific experience will take so much of your energy when you should be putting that headspace elsewhere.

I’m happy with the outcomes. My resting heart rate DROPPED which is great- that means I’m resting when I sleep. I have more clarity on how to navigate museologie, and by creating a wellness tracker, I can start becoming more consistent. I need to be disciplined in order to see results across the board, but slow progess is still progress and that’s all that matter. 🗒 Note to self: Be Consistent, girl!

I plan self retreats, so contact me if you’d like that to learn more about that service.

As for my schedule, I loosely preplanned and here’s the final result.

Enjoy
